About Climate Pledge Arena
Climate Pledge Arena is one of the newest buildings in the NHL underneath one of the oldest roofs. The original arena opened at Seattle Center in 1962 as a pavilion for the World's Fair, and when the site was rebuilt between 2018 and 2021 the 1962 roof and its glass curtain walls - landmarked by the city in 2017 - were held in place on temporary supports while everything beneath them was demolished and the site excavated deeper. The arena that reopened in October 2021 is therefore a modern building sunk well below a historic roofline. The Kraken and the Storm play here. Seating runs from the lower bowl through club and suite levels to the upper bowl, and because the bowl was dug down rather than built up, main entrances lead onto an upper concourse. The Seattle Center Monorail runs from downtown to the arena's doorstep, and parking on the campus is limited.
