About Barclays Center
Barclays Center opened in 2012 where Atlantic and Flatbush avenues meet in Brooklyn, built above the Long Island Rail Road's Atlantic Terminal as the first piece of the Pacific Park development. SHoP Architects wrapped it in pre-weathered steel panels that have rusted to a deep brown and cantilevered the facade out over the entrance plaza to form a canopy, which gives the building a silhouette unlike any other arena in the league. The Nets and the Liberty both play here, and it carries a heavy concert and boxing calendar alongside them. Seating runs from the lower bowl through suite and club levels to the upper bowl; as at most arenas, sideline seats give the most complete view of play while baseline and corner seats trade that angle for being closer in. Transit is the building's real advantage - the Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center station complex underneath it is among the largest in the subway system.
