About Warren P. McGuirk Alumni Stadium
Warren P. McGuirk Alumni Stadium seats 17,000, expandable to 21,430 for larger games, and has hosted UMass Minutemen football since opening September 25, 1965. Designed by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, the stadium is nicknamed The Junkyard, and its lowest seats sit more than 12 feet above the field because of the original raised design. A $34.5 million renovation completed in 2014 brought it up to FBS standards after UMass moved its program up a division.
